The Kane County Circuit Court is the primary court for Aurora court docket records. The court clerk is Theresa Barreiro. The courthouse is the Kane County Judicial Center at 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, IL 60174. You can reach the clerk's office at (630) 232-3413 or visit the Kane County Clerk of Court website for case information. Although Aurora is the largest city in Kane County and the second largest in Illinois, the courthouse is located in St. Charles, which serves as the county seat. Aurora residents who need to access in-person court docket records or file documents must travel to the St. Charles location. There is no Aurora branch courthouse for circuit court matters.

Kane County does not participate in Judici.com. Unlike many downstate counties that use the Judici portal for online case lookup, Kane County has its own electronic system. Case searches are available through the clerk's website. If you cannot find a case there, calling the clerk's office directly at (630) 232-3413 is the next step.

Searching Aurora Court Docket Records Online

Kane County offers online case lookup through its own web portal. You can search for court docket information by case number, party name, or attorney. Not all case types may be fully searchable online, and some older or sealed records will not appear in public searches.

For Aurora civil cases that were filed through Illinois' statewide mandatory e-filing system, eFileIL is the platform used for submission. Civil filings in Kane County go through eFileIL. Once a filing is accepted by the clerk, it gets assigned a case number and appears in the court's docket. Parties to a case can track activity through their eFileIL account.

For appellate decisions involving Aurora cases, use re:SearchIL. The 2nd District Illinois Appellate Court covers Kane County. Appellate docket entries and opinions for that court are available on re:SearchIL at no cost since May 2025.

Note: Illinois Supreme Court policy restricts online public access to certain case types. Eviction, family, foreclosure, guardianship, probate, small claims, traffic, and orders of protection are excluded from public online viewing under the remote access policy.

Building code violations, liquor license matters, and other city regulatory actions may also go through Aurora's local hearing process. These are administrative in nature and handled at the city level, not through the county circuit court.

Getting Copies of Aurora Court Docket Records

Certified copies of court documents from Kane County cases are available from the clerk's office in St. Charles. You can request copies in person, by mail, or through whatever electronic request system the county offers. Fees apply for certified copies. Plain copies are generally cheaper than certified ones.
