Wheaton is the county seat of DuPage County. The DuPage County Circuit Court, part of the 18th Judicial Circuit, handles all felony, misdemeanor, civil lawsuit, divorce, probate, and domestic relations cases for Wheaton and all DuPage County residents. The circuit clerk is Candice Adams. The clerk's mailing address is P.O. Box 707, Wheaton, IL 60187-0707. Phone: (630) 407-8700. The DuPage County Court Clerk website has online case search tools, forms, and clerk information.

The DuPage County Judicial Center is at 505 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187. This is where all DuPage County circuit court hearings are held, where the clerk's office is physically located, and where you go for in-person record requests. Because Wheaton is the county seat, residents have short access to the courthouse compared to many other DuPage County communities like Naperville or Downers Grove.

DuPage County is an E-Record approved county in Illinois, meaning it has met state standards for electronic record keeping. It is not part of Judici.com, so you cannot find DuPage County case dockets on that platform. All searches go through the county's own system at the DuPage County Court Clerk website.

Wheaton Court Docket Online Search

DuPage County provides online case search through the DuPage County Court Clerk website. You can search by case number, party name, or attorney name for many case types. The system covers civil, domestic relations, probate, traffic, and other case categories. Results show case event summaries and filing history. They are not certified copies of the underlying documents.

DuPage County's E-Record status means the county uses electronic records broadly. However, as with all Illinois counties, the Illinois Remote Access Policy limits what the general public can view online. Case types that are restricted from public online viewing include eviction, family, foreclosure, guardianship, probate, small claims, traffic, and orders of protection. Parties to those cases may have more access than non-parties.

The re:SearchIL portal is free since May 2025 and covers Illinois Supreme Court and 2nd District Appellate Court records, among others. The 2nd District Appellate Court covers DuPage County. If a Wheaton case was appealed, re:SearchIL may have the appellate docket. Trial-level DuPage County cases are not on re:SearchIL, only through the county's own tools.

Note: Judici.com covers 82 Illinois counties but DuPage is not among them. Do not expect to find Wheaton court dockets there.

Wheaton Municipal Court

Wheaton operates a municipal court at 303 W. Wesley St, Wheaton, IL 60187. Phone: (630) 260-2000. This court is for city ordinance violations only. That means parking tickets, local code enforcement actions, and violations of Wheaton city ordinances. If you received a parking ticket from the City of Wheaton or a code enforcement notice, your hearing is at the municipal court on Wesley Street, not at the Judicial Center on County Farm Road. Getting Copies of Wheaton Court Docket Records

For DuPage County cases, certified copies of court records are available through the clerk's office at the Judicial Center, 505 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. You can visit in person or check the DuPage County Court Clerk website for information on mail and online copy requests. Because DuPage is an E-Record county, some documents may be available for electronic delivery. Per-page fees apply for printed copies.

If you do not have a case number, the clerk can search by party name and date range to locate the file. For electronic access to your own case documents, the eFileIL system allows parties to view filings on cases they are associated with. For cases you are not a party to, the public search on the clerk's website is the right tool.

Records that are never public include juvenile files, adoption records, sealed cases, and expunged records. The Illinois Legal Aid guide on court records covers what is accessible and how to request it, including the fees you can expect to pay in DuPage County.

Wheaton Court Docket and Electronic Filing

Civil cases in DuPage County are filed through eFileIL, the statewide mandatory e-filing system. This applies to Wheaton civil filings: lawsuits, motions, and responses. DuPage County's E-Record status means the electronic process is well-established there. After the clerk accepts a filing, it typically appears in the docket within one to two business days. Both attorneys and self-represented filers can use eFileIL.

If you are a party to an active case, your eFileIL account lets you track filings and docket activity. For cases you are not a party to, the public case search on the DuPage County clerk website is your best tool. The Illinois Courts website also has guides for self-represented filers and information about the e-filing process statewide.

Wheaton Court Docket by Case Type

DuPage County Circuit Court handles many case types. Civil cases, both large and small, go through the circuit court. Divorce, custody, and family law matters are in domestic relations. Estate and probate cases have their own docket. Criminal cases, both felony and misdemeanor, are filed in the circuit court. Traffic cases are handled separately. All of these go through the single courthouse at the DuPage County Judicial Center in Wheaton.

Since Wheaton is the county seat and the Judicial Center is right in the city, residents generally find it easier to access the clerk's office and attend hearings than residents of other DuPage County cities who must drive to Wheaton. The clerk's office at (630) 407-8700 can help direct you to the right division or provide information on specific case types if you are unsure where your matter falls.

Federal cases involving Wheaton or DuPage County parties are not in the DuPage system. Those go to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago, and dockets are searchable through the federal PACER system.
